According to the Cleveland Clinic, “Your pineal gland is a tiny endocrine gland in the middle of your brain that helps regulate your body’s circadian rhythm by secreting the hormone melatonin… Circadian rhythms are physical, mental and behavioral changes that follow a 24-hour cycle. These natural processes respond primarily to light and dark.”

Visible light is only 0.0035 percent of the electromagnetic spectrum

An article on the U.S. Department of Energy website by the National Nuclear Security Administration titled Visible Light: Eye-opening research at NNSA (17 October 2018) states: 

“The entire rainbow of radiation observable to the human eye only makes up a tiny portion of the electromagnetic spectrum – about 0.0035 percent. This range of wavelengths is known as visible light.”
